Google Search Engine

Here you can enter almost anything in the search box and come up with information. Put in the surname you are researching and you'll be amazed as to what you'll find.
To refine your search you need to use quotes and plus's and minus's in any search engine, like the following:  "william randolph hurst" +born +Virginia
(Notice that all lower case should be used, and always put a space before the + or - or ", but no space after those signs.  If this is confusing, refer to books by Robert Ragan or see his Web site.)

Dogpile Search Engine

Type  “genealogy societies” (with quotes) in the search area and press “Fetch.”  This will bring up over 100 genealogy and historical societies categorized by location and topics, such as “National and Ethnic Genealogical Societies”, which you can click on and research online.

Robert Ragan's Web site

You can find interesting genealogy/computer information and sign up for his newsletter.  He is in Jacksonville, and has written numerous books about this subject.
